Flavor and role

A Thai soy-based seasoning sauce, more savoury than soy sauce and slightly sweet. Widely used in stir-fries and egg dishes.

Typical dishes and uses

Pad kra pao, khao pad (fried rice), Thai fried eggs, stir-fried vegetables

Substitutes

1 tbsp Golden Mountain = 1 tbsp Maggi seasoning, or 1 tbsp regular soy sauce + 1/4 tsp sugar + a pinch of MSG.

Storage

Unopened: 2 years at room temperature. Opened: 1 year in a cool place.
