Cook's tip

With filo, layer two buttered sheets, cut into 15 × 25 cm pieces and roll the same way. Rolled, unbaked cigars freeze well: bake from frozen, adding 3 to 4 minutes, for a snack any time.

Cooking it at camp

Roll and freeze the cigars at home and pack them frozen in the cooler; they'll be thawed just right by the first evening. At the campsite, cook them in a lidded pan with a little butter over low heat for about 10 minutes, turning often.
