Cook's tip

You can make dulce de leche by simmering an unopened can of condensed milk fully under water for 2 to 3 hours, but a jar from the shop is far easier. Too much filling leaks and burns in the oven. Adjust the miso to taste; brands vary in saltiness.

Cooking it at camp

Best baked at home. At the campsite, wrap them in foil and warm them at the edge of the grill or in a covered frying pan on low heat for about 3 minutes to crisp them up again.
