Gochujang Lapskaus (Norwegian × Korean)
Norway's potato-thickened beef stew with a Korean twist: gochujang, garlic and sesame make a glossy, sweet-spicy gravy to spoon over steamed rice.

Cook's tip
Gochujang varies in heat and saltiness from brand to brand, so start with the amount given and adjust at the end. For a mild version for children, halve the gochujang, skip the gochugaru and add a little honey. Like the original, it tastes even better the next day.
Cooking it at camp
Brown and simmer the beef with the gochujang at home and carry it frozen or in a well-iced cooler. At camp, add the root vegetables and simmer in one pot; reheat instant rice or cook rice in a pan.
