- A very slender long-grain rice that lengthens when cooked into separate, fluffy grains. Has a nutty aroma.

- Biryani, pulao, rice served with butter chicken and curries.
- Substitutes
- Jasmine rice or long-grain (parboiled) rice 1:1. Rinsed and soaked for 20-30 minutes, these cook up long like basmati.
- Storage
- Keep sealed in a cool, dry place. It keeps about 1 year, and aged rice is less prone to turning mushy.
